Socgymfu (Such Was Saturday)

(Precision sunscreen application)

This was her first-ever game
(as one of 5 full-backs, she spent a good bit of time on the side-lines)

The Bulldogs have some strong forwards,
so most of the action was on the other side of the field.
But she got in there -- all shoulders and elbows and gumption --

and defended her goal.

None of the parents were certain if we won or tied,
but our kids did the whole "2, 4, 6, 8" thing, so it seems we won.
Go, Bulldogs!

We went straight from her soccer game to her new gymnastics class,
and then grabbed lunch before heading to Chinatown for kung fu (and Go Fish).

I was dubious, but I think we're going to like these sorts of Saturdays.

After-school sports have been taking their toll on us, with all the rushing and pushed bedtimes and scrambling to finish homework.  It was so nice to feel the whole afternoon still stretched out in front of us, and to drive home in daylight (not in rush-hour traffic), knowing that it wasn't a school night, that Sunday is still waiting with its promises of sleeping in and waffles and play-dates.
