thanks, Gail! she calls them her Lola shoes (as in Charlie & Lola: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K85rjuScZtw). they are from Payless over here -- actual leather uppers (which they almost never have in the land of vinyl-but-affordable), and a pretty good knock-off of the classic $$$ Aster school shoe I always covet on european kids....
I just took my daughter to LACMA and we LOVED that Surrealist Drawing exhibit! (Proving my point that scribbling and doodling and collaging is good stuff!) Yay, NexGen! What a blessing that program has been for my whole family.
