The All-Class "Groove Celebration" (Zaza's First Kinda-Sorta School Dance)

Gussying up at the Chicken Dude's house, after school, before the dance
(the boys opted to stay behind and play Risk)
Zaza loved this ensemble. She put it together herself this morning (after shrugging off my apparently "too match-y" suggestions), and had me bring it so she could change before the dance.  She was so happy to get to wear her hair down
(we're still in louse-prevention mode).
This dance was very intentionally not a boy-girl, date-y kind of a thing -- more of a dance party, than an actual Dance. Second-grader 'Za and third-grader Miss P had a plan should things get all 6th grade on the dance floor (which it didn't): they would "go eat pizza if they play(ed) any slow songs."
Everybody got a glow-in-the-dark bracelet when they checked in.
At first there wasn't much dancing in the actual auditorium...
...because there is something very, very exciting about being at school when all the classroom lights have been turned off, when there are no playground attendants.
There was a quite a lot of Harajuku Mini going on.
After the dance teacher led the 5th graders in a flash-mob-style dance number,
the music teacher, Mr. K., got the younger kids grooving.

After Dropping Zaza at School: Birthday Invite Photo-Shoot

He decided on an ancient Egypt theme for his party this year...
...so the box office of this theater made for a nice back-drop.
We did this in about 5 minutes, with my phone --
in much cooler temperatures and in an overall marked contrast to
the epic jek photo session for his manga birthday invite in 2008.
(he chose this one)

We miss you, jessica!

Their Little Town: Halfenander/Halfenzaza

Inspired by today's viewing of this favorite episode, this project lasted over two hours -- and they never even got around to the story-making part.  As befits the source material, there was plenty of squabbling, and eventual compromise and collaboration.

They took Dubbadad on a street-level, robot-led tour via Facetime while he was at work.

We ate dinner on a tablecloth on the living room floor.

Walking to Starbucks: a Pallet of Crotches & an Auspicious Sign

The First Day of His Spring Break Was Her First VERY Sick Day in a Long, Long While

She had a high fever, and one of those sore throats where one weeps at the prospect of an impending swallow, where it feels like one's throat is tearing when one coughs or sneezes.

Still, she accessorized.  Still, she wanted to make things.

The First Week of Spring: Cleaning Up the Fairy Garden

(I only helped by making the swing-sets -- one large...
...and one small)
(wearing his new 'Chico Marx'-style hat --
purchased with saved-up pocket money, at the vintage boutique next to swork)
