...when they came into the dining room this morning, singing Bert & Ernie's "La, La, La" ...
For one crazy moment I felt as if my whole life had led up to that moment, that maybe when I was five and singing along with my Sesame Street records on my Fisher Price turntable, I had imagined my children -- these very children! -- singing this song.
(this album -- oft-played when the boy was still small -- has been on heavy rotation on the bathroom iPod)

A Random Sampling from the Bottom Left Drawer of Her Dressing Table, Which Was Still Full of the Many Many Things Three Year-Old Aliza HAD TO Pack in a Purse Before Leaving the House
|It is very possible that she never really cared for Hello Kitty,|
but played along, not wanting to hurt my Kitty-loving heart.
- Many, many, never-activated Target cards (lenticular ones were favorites)
- Many, many mirror compacts (superhero Hello Kitty, sailor Hello Kitty, pink-flowered enamel, 'classic' Hello Kitty)
- Several hand-mirrors (yellow squirrel, Hello Kitty keychain)
- Toy cell phone
This little person? She's somewhere in there still...(my little nesting doll...)

RAH! RAH! RAH!
(we are big boosters of our author and illustrator peeps)
Alexander doesn't remember, of course, but Adam read me the manuscript of his FIRST amazing-incredible-silly-fun book, whilst sitting on the rug in the then-nursery.
Adam was also the first person to read me the first Mo Willems Pigeon book, and it is his quasi-Spanish/Italian-German/Yiddish* voice for the Pigeon that I employ (to the best of my limited abilities) to this day when reading to children.
*before I had ever seen an episode of "Phineas and Ferb," a girl in Ander's first grade class told me that my version of Adam's-Pigeon-voice was very very close to the voice of Dr. Doofenshmirtz. So there you go.
